Grant Application Procedures

IMPORTANT - Please read this section before proceeding.

Eligibility to Apply - ALL potential applicants:

(a) must be an organization described in section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code; and
(b) must, as a first step, submit a letter of inquiry to the Stranahan Foundation. Full proposals are by invitation only, and may only be submitted by organizations that are invited to apply AFTER their letter of inquiry has been reviewed. The Foundation will contact those organizations eligible to submit a full proposal, and will also notify those that are not eligible to apply.

Before completing a letter of inquiry, please carefully review the Grantmaking Priorities section of this website to help you determine whether your project/program is a potential fit for the Stranahan Foundation.

Instructions for Completing Full Proposals - All full proposals must be completed online via this website. If you have been invited to submit a full proposal, go to the Apply for a Grant page for instructions and forms.

Grant Application Deadlines for 2009/2010

The Stranahan Foundation will offer two grant application cycles as follows:

Grant Application Cycle #1

November 1, 2009 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of letters of inquiry. Click here to download letter of inquiry instructions and form.

January 9, 2010 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of full proposals. All full proposals must be completed via the online application form on this website. For instructions and application form for full proposals, please go to the Apply for a Grant page.

Decisions for Grant Cycle #1 will be made by the Stranahan Foundation Board of Trustees in late May 2010. Please note that funds for approved grants will not be available until after May 25th, and grant funds cannot be used to cover expenses incurred prior to this time.

Grant Application Cycle #2

May 1, 2010 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of letters of inquiry. Click here to download letter of inquiry form and instructions.

July 1, 2010 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of full proposals. All full proposals must be completed via the online application form on this website. For instructions and application form for full proposals, please go to the Apply for a Grant page.
