Grant Application Procedures

IMPORTANT - Please read this section before proceeding.

What types of organizations are eligible to apply? Until further notice, the Stranahan Foundation will be accepting letters of inquiry and full proposals ONLY from organizations that have previously received funding from the Foundation. Like many funders, the Stranahan Foundation has experienced significant growth in grant requests over the past few years, with numbers far exceeding our ability to thoroughly review all that are submitted. Therefore, we find we must ask that no new organizations (i.e. those that have not received funding previously) submit letters of inquiry or proposals at this point in time. We may begin considering new organizations again in the future, once we have completed our long-range planning process. Please periodically check this website for updates.

Which applicants are required to submit a letter of inquiry? If the specific program you are proposing has not previously been funded by the Stranahan Foundation, you MUST submit a letter of inquiry. If the program for which you are requesting support has been funded previously, you may proceed directly to full proposal.

Grant Application Deadlines for 2008/2009

The Stranahan Foundation will offer two grant application cycles as follows:

Grant Application Cycle #1

November 1, 2008 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of letters of inquiry. Click here to download letter of inquiry instructions and form.

January 9, 2009 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of full proposals. All full proposals must be completed via the online application form on this website. For instructions and application form for full proposals, please go to the Apply for a Grant page.

Decisions for Grant Cycle #1 will be made by the Stranahan Foundation Board of Trustees in early May 2009. Please note that funds for approved programs would be made available after May 15th, and grant funds cannot be used to cover expenses incurred prior to this time.

May 1, 2009 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of letters of inquiry. Click here to download letter of inquiry form and instructions.

July 1, 2009 (by 12:00 noon Eastern Time) - Deadline for submission of full proposals. All full proposals must be completed via the online application form on this website. For instructions and application form for full proposals, please go to the Apply for a Grant page.

Decisions for Grant Cycle #2 will be made by the Stranahan Foundation Board of Trustees in mid-November 2009. Please note that funds for approved programs would be made available after November 25th, and grant funds cannot be used to cover expenses incurred prior to this time.
